SECURITY GOVERNANCEControl objectives and traceable evidence
Security assurance examines more than the presence of a standard name. Useful evidence identifies the responsible organization, a specific product or service, the relevant control objective and the time period being assessed.
GitLab publishes security policies and compliance material at handbook.gitlab.com and describes its GitLab Control Framework through its security assurance materials. The primary references should be reviewed alongside any document copy.
Scope and freshness
Cloud-service safeguards, identity controls, secure development and operational monitoring are not interchangeable. Evidence for one product boundary may not transfer automatically to another. A document can be current by date yet remain insufficient if the issuer, holder or assessment scope is unclear.
Evidence hierarchy
An authoritative current assurance statement, a complete signed independent report, an internal control mapping and a summary statement offer different levels of substantiation. Conclusions should reflect those differences rather than assume every listed framework is an external certification.
